Delineation of geological formations and their influence on groundwater in Umunneochi L.G.A of Abia State and Its Environs

For socioeconomic growth and environmental wellbeing of the populace, availability sustainable management groundwater resources is very crucial. Effective use this invaluable requires an understanding subsurface geological formations their impact on groundwater. This study was carried out in other to delineate evaluate Umunneochi Local Government Area (L.G.A) Abia State its environs using Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) analysis. The includes gathering resistivity data via a network VES surveys at twelve key locations six selected town within L.G.A. field were subsequently interpreted iteration software IP2WIN identify various potential as aquifers, which substantially occurrence distribution. research findings showed distinct units with values ranging from 0.37 - 2000Ωm, indicating variety lithological properties, sand gravel layers showing higher permeability representing aquifers. results have significant implications for surroundings, also provide recommendations strategic placement boreholes wells maximize extraction long-term use.
